Day 237

Day 237

Her grandmother warned her not to get eaten by a whale

Whale scientist, Nan Hauser was out filming humpback whales when one started to charge towards her. She’d had many encounters with whales before. They had always been peaceful and gentle. She was worried.

The whale tried to tuck her under his fin and then tried tossing her onto its back but she slid off. When he flipped her onto his head, she remembered her grandmother telling her not to get eaten by a whale. Then she saw the biggest tiger shark she ever seen headed towards her and she realized the whale was trying to save her. He carried her safely to her boat and as he swam off, she thanked him told him she loved him.

Nan never expected to see the whale again but, amazingly, a year later the whale returned and they had a reunion that was incredibly heartwarming. This story is best heard from Nan herself. Take a look at the video below and you can see her heroic whale too.
