The warmth of kindness
When a friend of Jen Simonic and Masey Kaplan asked them to help clear out her deceased mother's stash of knitting needles and wool, they came across 2 unfinished blankets.
They not only finished the blankets the women now connect people whose loved ones left behind an unfinished project with crafters in their area skilled in knitting, crochet, rug hooking, embroidery, cross-stitch and quilting. The kind hearted volunteers have finished over 2,500 projects.
This small act of kindness became a non-profit called Loose Ends.
It is a….”nonpartisan, nonreligious, everyone-is-welcome movement that aims to ease grief, create community, and inspire generosity by matching volunteer handwork finishers with textile projects people have left undone due to death or disability.”
