Day 358

Day 358

Feminism for dummies

An activist since she was 11, Guro Heggholmen, shows us that age is no barrier to changing the world. When this young changemaker noticed that the female mannequins in a store window were being discriminated against—posed to look pretty while the male mannequins were “doing handstands and other cool stuff”—she decided to take action. She wrote a letter to the store and the manager apologized and promised to change the display.

That was just the beginning for this courageous girl. Guro continues to stand up for what she feels is right and encourages other children to do the same. She says…

“Point your finger at what is wrong. It doesn’t matter if you are a girl or boy, if you are 6 years old or 11 years old, I want you to speak out about small things you see.”
