Day 72

Day 72

Even under the sea, it takes a village

In dolphin families, all the family members get involved in raising the children. The fathers will take charge of play dates. Older siblings watch out for the babies. Adults will form circles of protection around youngsters playing. And mothers babysit for each other so they can take turns resting—even across species. The bottlenose and spotted dolphins in the Bahamas are fast friends, helping and protecting each other.
